My experience as a student in Madelene Capelle's studio was a rewarding outcome to a wise decision as a performer/singer. Miss Capelle is not only a great instructor, but her wisdom as a performer/singer herself, is instilled in her students on how precious and delicate your voice is and how vital it is to maintain and protect your vocal folds. When I first came to Madelene two years ago, I had the instrument to sing, but was not certain and definitely not confident in how to properly use it. After six months of her instruction and constructive discipline, I not only was able to sing with a better clarity, but I was also able to change from registers easier. I had strengthened my diaphragm for breath support and better wind control. I was confident in myself to not only sing, but I was confident on knowing the proper ways to care for my instrument. Today, I can still hear her tips on preparation and warming up. Whether it is when I'm getting ready for a performance, or if I'm practicing at home, Madelene's vocal training will continue to mold me throughout my career as a performer. Madelene, --I just wanted to tell you how absolutely thrilled I am to be working with you. That was an enlightening experience last night, and I want to pursue your techniques until I settle all the issues you noted last night. I don't care if I sing another note in public until we have done one hot Summer's work on this. --I think I have more voice than anyone that I have ever sung with has been able to hear. And I think the main reason for that is that I have never metabolized a good and consistent technique That uncertainty, combined with the type of music I am drawn to, spells shaky auditions and generally a lot of stage fright. I have had plenty of time in my life to achieve the vocal performance equilibrium I need, but I have only had one other coach in whom I felt such confidence as I immediately felt last night in your studio. And he decided he wanted to be a commercial pilot instead! One night I went for my lesson in Orcutt, CA, and his studio had become one big flight simulator. Boys and their airplanes! --Anyway, you can count on my complete commitment, and who knows? Maybe I'll even practice :-)! --I want to share with you one goal I have always had, and now am determined to go after with renewed determination: Just once in my life I want to stand in front of a symphony orchestra and a full auditorium and make a great big song.
